The Keeper is Scripps News Group's unified graphics package, developed in partnership with Defiant to create a modern, cohesive visual identity across its local news stations. Inspired by the “Keeper of the Light,” the system combines a distinctive broadcast look with a flexible, standardized framework designed for use across multiple markets.
I helped bring the system from concept to implementation by adapting agency motion assets, developing the Keeper Style Guide, creating station-specific graphics, establishing scalable production workflows and supporting quality control and station rollouts.
I adapted the Keeper graphics system for professional and college sports teams by incorporating team colors, logos and custom imagery into the established Keeper aesthetic. The goal was to give each graphic a strong connection to the team and its market while keeping it recognizable as part of the larger graphics package.
Most recently, that work included graphics for WTMJ celebrating the 2026 World Series Champion Milwaukee Brewers, marking the team’s first championship in franchise history.
Can't leave out the Tampa Bay Rays!
Two of our stations had teams playing in the 2026 World Series.
I made full graphics packages for both teams starting with logo designs.
